  Even in the distant past handicraft and trade were the main sources of state revenues. Trade and economic relations are constantly evolving. Along with the eastern bazaars and shops, caravan trade was most popular. Long caravans overcame long distances, carrying silks, jewelry, carpets, china, spices and other popular goods. An uneasy journey through the exhausting desert wore out the traders and their pack animals. They needed rest and lodging.      

 The Caravanserai was built in the 16th century. It is only enterance was provided with a strong gate. It was made in form of one story hujras located along the perimetr or the courty yard.In total there are 25 hujras where bot only guests but also their escort could comfortable stay. There were rooms for works as well.The nugai Caravanserai is an extremly interesting place for travelers who want to see Bukhara in all its glory.    Nowadays, the place has not lost te spriticance, although It is not used for its intended purpose. The Nugal caravanserai along with other histoncal monuments of Bukhara, occupies a worthy place in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is protected by the state. In the very near future, this unique structure will be reconstructed, as stated in the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
